Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She is the youngest female and the first to receive the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar, a young emerging star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982 and began her life by hopping from London in London and New Delhi. Her debut concert was in New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha was only a teenager, has had an impressive recording and performing career. She has been performing with her father in the stage for a long time. In 1998, she released her first single album Anourag. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Apart from performing in all of the largest venues as well, she has a long stage career. Anoushka's career does not only involve music. She released Bapi The love of my life in the year 2002. This is a picture biographical work that is a tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in films in 2003 she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka shankar is a rising star and her career will continue to grow. Anoushka Shakar, born in England was a major part of her life between London Delhi. After moving to California she completed high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration she made her debut performing the sitar in front of the audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences as she traveled with her father when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, as well as making recordings with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musical ability as an outstanding musician from the Asian Arts.
