Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently mistake it for an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is often called her birthplace. It is true that she was there for a brief time. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer but due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I surpassed the size of my male friends then I stopped. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice from her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her in the direction she wanted. It was the teacher who recommended she take on a part in the annual school production. Following a trial the role, she was chosen as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both smaller and large. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian participant.
